St Germoe Church 6 August 2026

This has to be the most blissful place I have visited for a long time. Many times I have seen the signpost to Germoe on my way to Helston.  It is the opposite side to the Praa Sands turning on the Penzance to Helston.

On this particular day, on my way to Helston, I was feeling really exhausted and decided I needed to investigate this tiny village and take a rest. I am so glad I did. As you get to the centre of the village the church appears in front of you.

There is parking on the green in front of the church.

The sign in front of the church directs you to the Sacred Well and to St Germoe’s Chair.

I decided to visit the well first, which was fed by a beautiful stream.

The Sacred Well is surrounded by the most beautiful Myrtle tree.  Inside the church, I met a lovely lady, Anna, who used to be the church warden, but now organises the flowers, amongst other things.  She gave me permission to take a cutting from the tree.

The Sacred Well reminded me of Chalice Well in Glastonbury. It is permanently covered and again, Anna gave me permission to take some water from the stream that runs into it. I spent some time at the Sacred Well, and I have to say, my feet were on fire.  This had to be a place of strong feminine energy.

Entering the churchyard, I was drawn to what is called St Germoe’s Chair.

I sat down in the shade, and spent a few moments there. This is the view from the Chair.

Before entering the church, I couldn’t help noticing the tower with its gargoyles, and the entrance, with its carved heads.

The entrance also has a monkey carved either side.  The one on the left is much clearer.

Inside the church, Anna showed me the original Celtic font which was found in the church grounds, and is under a desk near the church entrance. I also took a photo of the church information.

Leaving the church and with my feet still on fire, I took myself into the churchyard and sat down on a bench just soaking up the magical energy. In total bliss.

I really had to drag myself away from this place and back into my car, to continue my journey to Helston.

Love and hugs

“Find what you love and love what you find”

p.s. Before leaving, Anna asked me where I lived  She knew where Relubbus was located.  She then informed me that the little stream becomes the River Hayle which runs through Relubbus.  Don’t you just love synchronicity! Also, I have just done some research and the church is near an ancient settlement. Also, the Mary line runs through the church, and I am sure, it must also run through the well.  I will have to go back with my dowsing rods and check it out.  No wonder the place is so blissful and my feet were on fire!
