St Bryvyth Holy Well Lanlivery 20 August 2026

My friend LG, who hosted a recent exhibition of her art, had told me about this ancient well and I happened to be in Lanlivery yesterday, so I thought I would incorporate a visit to this sacred place.

Like so many ancient places, there are no signposts and because to get to it, you have to cross through a school, it is best to visit out of school days.

The pathway starts between the Crown Inn and the school and when you look behind, you can actually see that the steps from the village church are in alignment with the path.

Continue along the pathway

with the school to your left, until you get to a gate

Fortunately, a couple walking a dog came along at just the right time, as I just wasn’t tall enough to open the top latch.

Walk past the tennis court, which will be on your right.

Then across a tarmac path, picking up on a path with tyres and a pond to your left

At the top of this pathway turn right

and as you get to the end you start to see a glimpse of a wooded area in front of you

and there in amongst the foliage is the sacred well, full of water.  Which I felt was magical, seeing as we have been in the midst of a drought here in Cornwall.

A beautiful and tranquil place to be able to meditate for a while.  It felt very ancient. A wonderful place to connect.

Love and hugs
