It must be 32 years since I last sailed, according to my Voyager Log Book. So I was thrilled to be asked to join Sam on his Colvic 26 sailing from Mevagissey to Falmouth. Sam is 18 and is sailing from the River Yealm to the Scillies.
Mevagissey is a beautiful Cornish fishing village and when we set sail it was their festival week. It was wonderful to see the streets and port decked with garlands and flags.
Just before we set sail, we had a visit from Sammy the Seal, which I took as a good omen.
I also felt it was a connection with the current Wheel of the Year and Morgen Gliten. Many of you will know that I studied the Morgens with Shamanic Willow, and Morgen Gliten is connected to water, the sea, lakes and seals. So when Sammy appeared again, it looked like there was a message in his mouth!
We were also in a period of Mercury retrograde with all the RE’s and the trip to Falmouth certainly made me REmember and REflect on my sailing days, long gone. I also REmembered what someone had told me recently.
“Accept what is, let go of what was and have faith in what will be”
The sea on 9 July was oily and the sun shimmered on the sea like diamonds; just like magic. Unfortunately, I didn’t take photos along the way, as it was important to concentrate on obstacles in the water, namely lobster pots. I have never seen so many!
But what a beautiful day to REmember. Thank you Sam.
