Hi everyone. At long last I have experienced a pottery lesson. It has been on my bucket list for years and my niece organised a special lesson for just the two of us.
Pippa runs her Lowenek Art Studio in St Martin on the Lizard in Cornwall, complete with peacocks, ducks and chickens. We really appreciated Pippa’s patience and almost one to one tuition which we wouldn’t have got in a large class. Plus, the heads up regarding the peacock who loves to land on the roof of the studio!
The first part was working with the clay – Karrie my niece, used the coil building method and made a beautiful jug. I used the slab building method and made a cornish tin mine which will house a candle.
The second part was experiencing the wheel, called throwing. It was much harder than I anticipated, but I thoroughly enjoyed working with the clay. Both forms of pottery we found very therapeutic and even meditative.
So, if you are down here in Cornwall and fancy a go at pottery, then do contact Pippa on lowenekartstudio@outlook.com.
Many thanks Pippa for all your patience. We both had a fabulous time.
