Hal an Tow 8/5/24

In the past, I have experienced the Children’s Dance and the Midday Dance on Flora Day in Helston, Cornwall.  However, this was my first experience of Hal an Tow. The official advertising says it is the reenactment of Robin Hood and Little John, St George slaying the Dragon, St Michael slaying the Devil and the Spaniards of Mousehole, all reenacting the battles of `good defeating evil`to `drive out the old and welcome in the new`.

If you are into Earth Energy healing and have read Hamish Miller and Paul Broadhurst’s books you will understand that, it’s more to do with the anchoring of the Dragon energy (or nailing/pinning it) into Mother Earth so that Helston and the surrounding area, will have bountiful harvest. This is how our ancestors would have celebrated. I prefer our ancestors take. However the energy that was created yesterday, was incredible and it could be witnessed by the smiling faces and greetings, as I walked back to my car after the event. Simon, the people there,  certainly found the hum, fed the hum and spread the hum.

You can probably hear the Oggy Oggy Oggy resounding from time to time.

As you can see the town was heaving. I wasn’t expecting so many people at 8.30 am (which was when the procession started).

I followed behind, all the way to the finish at 9.30 am. My new nutrition must have helped me to power walk up and down the roads, as I managed to keep up with the procession right to the end. There were 4 or 5 stops where the reenactment took place.

The streets, shops, houses and businesses made such an effort decorating with lily of the valley, bluebells etc. You will see in the videos that sycamore branches were also used.

An amazing experience and I for one would have loved to have taken part.

Love and hugs
